Sunday was a banner day for two golfers from SEC schools
Although golf isn’t a premier spectator sport in the SEC, there are several golfers from the conference who have gone on to find success in the professional ranks.
Former Georgia golfer Bubba Watson may be the most notable active player from the SEC, although former Auburn golfer Jason Dufner and former Vanderbilt golfer Brandt Snedeker are also well-known.
Two players outside of that group who graduated from an SEC school had notable afternoons on Sunday, however.
John Daly, who golfed at Arkansas in the late 1980s, earned his first PGA Tour Champions title on Sunday at the Insperity Invitational. It was Daly’s first victory since 2004. The former Razorback was once one of the most popular players on the tour and took to Twitter to celebrate his achievement.

Although Arkansas wasn’t officially a member of the SEC while Daly attended, he still deserves recognition for his victory. Daly was joined in victory by former Georgia Bulldog Brian Harman.
Harman proved he possessed the clutch gene by nailing a 30-foot putt to secure a one-shot victory in the Wells Fargo Championship. The walk-off win was Harman’s first in almost three years, and it was undoubtedly a sweet one.

It might not be football season, but the SEC is still out there dominating.
