JT Daniels has brought a new dynamic to Georgia’s offense. And that gives the Bulldogs the potential to put up big numbers in 2021.

It took a while for Daniels to get onto the field after he transferred to Georgia from USC, as he didn’t make his Bulldogs debut until last November. But once he played, he impressed, passing for 1,231 yards, 10 touchdowns and 2 interceptions in 4 games.

Daniels and Georgia head coach Kirby Smart were recently featured on ESPN’s “Virtual College Tour,” and on that segment, Daniels reflected on how he decided to come play for the Bulldogs.

“Its location didn’t mean anything to me,” Daniels said on the segment. “You can’t beat Georgia academically, you can’t beat Georgia on the field. As soon as I got the call, I pretty much was decided. I was sold instantly, I knew what I was doing.”

The Bulldogs’ QB play had been a bit inconsistent before Daniels’ arrival. Now that he’s joined the offense, it’s given them more of an aerial attack. And the redshirt junior isn’t afraid to throw deep balls.

“There’s something I learned when I was maybe a freshman in high school — overthrowing a really good receiver guarantees he won’t catch the ball. If you give them a chance, a 50/50 is an 80/20,” Daniels said. “I think the biggest thing is if you’re in the situation if you’re in a 1-on-1 and you can give the receiver a chance, never guarantee that 7 points are off the board by overthrowing it. We get the best receivers in the country for a reason. So to me, it’s just part of my job to give them a chance to show why they are who they are.”

Daniels and the No. 5 Bulldogs open the 2021 season on Saturday, when they take on No. 3 Clemson in Charlotte at 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
