The Georgia Bulldogs found themselves in a tighter battle than expected on Saturday night in Athens against Notre Dame.

However, the Dawgs managed to pull out a 23-17 victory, thanks in large part to the steady play of QB Jake Fromm. Fromm finished the game with a pedestrian 187 yards, 1 touchdown and 0 interceptions, but it was the way he controlled the game that made the difference.

After the win, coach Kirby Smart heaped praise on the junior quarterback, saying he’s glad to have him in Athens (via 247Sports):

“Jake takes things that are broken and fixes them.” Smart said. “He makes wrongs right. I’m glad he’s on our team because he’s a leader, he’s a commander in chief. The guy makes good decisions.”

RB D’Andre Swift also had a good game, rushing for 98 yards and a score. Fromm’s one touchdown pass went to Lawrence Cager, who finished with a team-high 82 receiving yards.

How long can the Dawgs continue to win? Fromm’s play will have a lot to say about that.
