It looks like the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. On the same day Nick Saban used colorful language to describe the media’s perception of Alabama’s defensive depth, Georgia coach Kirby Smart went off on the media for how they were covering injuries suffered by his team.

After Georgia’s scrimmage on Saturday, reports of Zamir White’s knee injury had leaked before Smart had a chance to address the media. The non-contact injury occurred when he was in punt coverage.

When asked if it was normal for a running back to be playing in punt coverage, Smart blew a gasket.

“You guys are amazing,” said Smart. “Sony Michel was a first-round pick last year, he covered a punt. Derrick Henry covered every punt at Alabama, I mean, why would you ask that?”

“I mean, I’m sick for the kid, because I don’t know the severity of the injury it’s really not fair that all you guys run out there and throw stuff out there and we don’t get a chance to talk to his parents.”
