Even with 2015 Heisman Trophy contender Nick Chubb and talented backup Sony Michel, Georgia has struggled to run the football for most of the season.

The Bulldogs have dropped from 38th to 60th nationally in rushing offense this season, and neither Chubb nor Michel average more than 5 yards per carry. Many fans and pundits have pointed to poor offensive line play as the cause for Georgia’s rushing woes, but the Bulldogs aren’t following suit.

Coach Kirby Smart said during a Monday news conference that the running backs have a great relationship with the offensive lineman and aren’t placing any blame on them.

Georgia got off to great start on the ground when Chubb rushed for 222 yards against North Carolina in the season opener, but the junior has topped only 100 yards since then.

The Bulldogs’ struggles to run the football are a big reason why they’ve gone 4-4 and fallen out of the Top 25. Those issues reared their head against in a 24-10 loss to No. 10 Florida last Saturday, in which Georgia rushed for just 21 yards on 19 carries.
