Kirby Smart knows Luther Burden is a big part of Missouri’s offense, and the star freshman has already made several big plays for the Tigers this season.

Smart and Georgia will have to defend Burden this week, and he was asked about him at his Monday press conference. Smart said Burden’s matchup problems come from his size and elite skillset.

“He’s strong, physical, you watch him as a returner, he makes people miss,” Smart said. “They find ways to get him touches, he catches the ball out of the backfield, be it speed sweeps. He runs deep and he returns the ball. He’s a very elusive, physical runner. You can tell when people go to tackle him, he’s stout.”

About the Mizzou offense in general, Smart said there’s a lot of “eye candy” with movement and misdirection.

“Does a really nice job being physical and running the ball,” Smart said. “Always well-coached on the offensive front in terms of the way they block their plays and the way they complement each other and shots down the field and playing vertical. I think their quarterback’s done a good job this year, he’s a good athlete, he can scramble around and extend plays and make plays with his feet.”
