Kirby Smart provides update on potential starting DB Tyrique McGhee's foot injury
Over the weekend, Georgia coach Kirby Smart revealed that junior DB Tyrique McGhee had suffered a foot injury, putting his Week 1 availability in doubt.
However, on Wednesday, Smart pumped the brakes on the speculation that McGhee’s injury would keep him out in Week 1 against Austin Peay.
As you can see in the tweets below, McGhee may have a broken bone in his foot, but Smart said it’s too early to tell how long he’ll be out:
Kirby Smart said Tyrique McGhee has a broken bone in his foot but did not rule him out for the first game. Jackson Harris has a foot injury and Robert Beal has an undisclosed injury.

McGhee had 23 tackles last season, including half a sack. He also intercepted one pass and had six pass breakups.
As Georgia tries to revamp its secondary this offseason, McGhee was in the mix to be a starter, so it remains to be seen how this injury affects his role.
