The New England Patriots selected two former Georgia Bulldogs in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft — OL Isaiah Wynn and RB Sony Michel.

Both players are participating in the Pats’ rookie minicamp this week, and Michel has made a good first impression.

According to ESPN’s Mike Reiss, New England RB coach Ivan Fears said Michel has impressed with his size and strength:

“He’s a very physical guy for a guy that’s very good in the open field,” he said. “Most of those guys are scat-back guys [but] he has some stout to him. He’s not a little guy. He’s broad-shouldered. He’s a size player that can pound it away and can make things happen in the open space.”

Michel will compete with Jeremy Hill, Rex Burkhead and others this year for carries in the Patriots’ backfield.

Even though the backfield is crowded, Michel should see plenty of action this fall as the Pats try to figure out what they have in their first-round pick.
