Georgia is losing 5-star QB Justin Fields after the Sugar Bowl, and some of the nation’s top programs are interested in him.

Ohio State is considered to be the front-runner, but Oklahoma and Florida State are also reportedly in the mix.

On Monday, though, Ohio State insider Bill “Bank” Greene joined the Bucknuts Morning 5 podcast and said he thinks Fields-to-Ohio State is as good as done (via 247Sports):

“I think it’s as close to being done as it can be, without Justin and Ryan Day conversing yet, which I think will happen after the bowl game. You hate to say ‘done’ because they’re right up to the line now, and that conversation may not go well. …

“Justin Fields should be visiting Ohio State. He and Ryan Day should sit down, discuss philosophy, strategy, how they see the kid’s career going. I can’t believe it won’t go well, and I think if it goes well, I think this is going to be over. I think Justin wants to be at Ohio State, I think all the smoke is real. I think the connection between Justin Fields and Dwayne Haskins through quarterback guru Quincy Avery is real, I think Quincy Avery’s relationship with Ryan Day is real. I think this is a go, and I think this is going to happen, but you hate to call it ’til Justin sees the campus and until Justin and Ryan sit down. And I think that’s going to happen really soon, and I think Justin Fields is going to be at Ohio State in the not-too-distant future.”

Fields is staying at Georgia through the Sugar Bowl, but after that, he’s going to leave to pursue more playing time elsewhere.

Ohio State is expected to lose starter Dwayne Haskins to the NFL Draft, so Fields would have a clear path to the starting job theoretically.
