Georgia was busy signing many of its top commits on Wednesday, the opening day of the early signing period. However, the Bulldogs won’t receive national letters of intent from every player committed to them by the time the 72-hour window is over by the end of Friday.

Darris Smith, a 4-star edge rusher, and Dillon Bell, a 3-star wide receiver, each announced on Wednesday that they wouldn’t be signing during the early period. Instead, they’ll wait until February, which is when the traditional National Signing Day will take place (Feb. 2).

Jordan James, a 4-star running back, also won’t be signing, according to a report from Cecil Joyce of the Murfreesboro Daily News Journal.

Smith is a longtime Georgia commit, as he picked the Bulldogs on Dec. 3, 2020. He currently attends Appling County High School in Baxley, Ga., and he is the No. 13 edge rusher and No. 192 overall recruit in the 2022 class, per the 247Sports Composite rankings.

Smith isn’t signing until February because he’s waiting to do so with his high school teammates:

Bell has been committed to Georgia since Aug. 2. He currently attends The Kinkaid School in Houston, and he is the No. 67 wide receiver and No. 497 overall recruit in the 2022 class, per the 247Sports Composite rankings.

Although Bell didn’t say why exactly he isn’t signing this week, he indicated that he’ll be sticking with Georgia given the bulldog emoji in his tweet:

James has been committed to Georgia since March 29. He currently attends Oakland High School in Murfreesboro, Tenn., and he is the No. 16 running back and No. 188 overall recruit in the 2022 class, per the 247Sports Composite rankings.

James is currently on a family trip, which is the reason why he isn’t signing this week, but he told Joyce that he is “100% signing with Georgia still.”

This trio is a big part of the reason why Georgia currently has the No. 1 2022 class in the country, per the 247Sports Composite team rankings.
