It didn’t take long for former Georgia standout DeAndre Baker to find a new team once he was cleared to return to the NFL.

Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports that Baker is expected to sign to the Kansas City Chiefs practice squad.

“The Chiefs are expected to sign former Giants CB DeAndre Baker to their practice squad in the coming days, source says,” Garafolo tweeted. “The 2019 first-round pick is headed there for a visit, as Paul Schwartz of the New York Post noted. That’s the only planned visit and, barring a snag, he’ll be a Chief.”

“Baker will be a member of the Chiefs’ practice squad as he gets up to speed,” Garafolo added in a follow-up tweet. “Soon as he does, he’ll find his way to the active roster. A day after the Broward County State Attorney’s Office dropped robbery charges, he’s on his way back to the NFL.”

This offseason, Baker was being charged with robbery with a firearm. On Monday, the attorney who was representing three of Baker’s alleged victims was arrested for an alleged extortion attempt against Baker.

In his rookie season, Baker played in all 16 games for the New York Giants, starting 15, recording 8 passes defended and 61 tackles, including 2 for loss.
