Report: Former Georgia linebacker signs with new NFL squad
After the Pittsburgh Steelers used the No. 17 overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft on former Georgia LB Jarvis Jones, the ex-Bulldog failed to live up to expectations.
In four professional seasons, Jones has 128 tackles, six sacks, four forced fumbles and two interceptions — not exactly what the Steelers had in mind for a first-round pick.
Now, Jones is heading to the Arizona Cardinals, as ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported on Tuesday, where he’ll try to resurrect his career in the desert:
OLB Jarvis Jones’ deal with Arizona is for one year. Steelers showed mild interest in him returning but no major push. Former first-round pick gets his fresh start. The Steelers have Arthur Moats and Anthony Chickillo at the rotational pass-rush spots but could add another.
Jones can learn from current Cardinal Markus Golden, a fellow former SEC star. The ex-Mizzou pass rusher had 12.5 sacks for Arizona in 2016 and has 16.5 total sacks in his two-year NFL career.
