As the college football season winds down and the NFL Draft nears, we’re seeing more players opt-out to begin training for the Combine. That won’t be the case for one of the SEC’s top defensive backs.

Georgia standout Richard LeCounte put any opt-out talk to rest with a Tuesday night tweet.

“Two Things I want to address: 1. No I am not opting out the season , I will finish my career as a bulldog on that field with my brothers! 2. That Hunger inside of me Only Grown Bigger,” LeCounte tweeted.

LeCounte has been sidelined since his accident after the Bulldogs’ win over Kentucky. He was unable to play in the Florida game. It is unclear when he might return to the field, but it’s clear that the senior wants to play another game for UGA.

Kirby Smart addressed the possibility last week:

“We’re hopeful on it” said Smart when asked if there is a chance LeCounte comes back to play in 2020. “Depends how long the season is.”

An SEC First Team preseason selection, LeCounte had 26 tackles through 5 games this season. Heading into his fourth season at Georgia, LeCounte was named to pre-season watch lists for the Bednarik Award (collegiate defensive player of the year), Paycom Jim Thorpe Award (nation’s top DB) and the Bronko Nagurski Trophy (nation’s top defensive player).
