Scott Stricklin is appreciative of his 10 years at UGA.

A day after Georgia athletic director Josh Brooks announced that the program was making a head coaching change, Georgia baseball’s Twitter account shared a letter from Stricklin to the Bulldog Nation.

Stricklin thanked former AD Greg McGarity for the opportunity and praised Brooks’ leadership, saying he’ll continue to support UGA athletics.

Dear Dawg Nation,

“Thank you, Bulldog Nation, for taking such good care of me and my family over the last 10 years. My wife and I could not have asked for a better place to raise a family and to live our lives. This community and this university mean so much to us and we are forever thankful for having the opportunity to be a part of them.

“This is a bottom-line business, and the bottom line is that I did not win enough baseball games. It’s hard to put into words all the feelings that I have but the best way to describe them is with the words grateful and blessed. I am grateful for the time I was given at this great university to build relationships with players, coaches, staff, alumni, and fans. I am blessed because I know how fortunate I am to have such a loving family and caring friends.

“Thank you to all the players that I have been able to coach, not only here at Georgia, but all the players that I have coached over the last 26 years. Being a coach carries a special meaning and purpose I never took that lightly. Watching a young man turn into a grown man and then become a husband and father is one of the most rewarding parts of this job. I have had the privilege to coach so many great players and watch them turn into great men. That’s what I am most humbled by. The opportunity to be a part of that process.

“I would like to thank Greg McGarity for giving me this opportunity 10 years ago and for Josh Brooks’ excellent leadership over the last few years. I know he will continue to lead the University of Georgia’s athletic department with dignity and class. Thank you to President Jere Morehead for always being supportive of our student athletes, coaches and athletic department.

“I do not know what the next chapter of my life will look like, but I know that the time spent at the University of Georgia was special. I will always be rooting for everyone at this great university, and I am forever thankful for the opportunity to be a Georgia Bulldog.”

Under Stricklin, Georgia went 299-236-1, posting a 121-146-1 mark in SEC games. Stricklin guided Georgia to the NCAA Tournament 3 times in his tenure: 2018 (39-21, 18-12 SEC, Regional finalist); 2019 (46-17, 21-9 SEC, Regional finalist); and 2022 (36-23, 15-15 SEC).
