The Georgia Bulldogs have had quite a few great running backs in the past decade, but perhaps the most talented of the bunch was current Los Angeles Rams star Todd Gurley.

However, Gurley may not have ended up in Athens if another SEC school had made him an offer.

According to TheSpun.com, Gurley said he was waiting for the LSU Tigers to make him an offer, but it never came:

“I kinda grew up a semi-LSU fan. I just kind of wanted that offer,” Gurley said when asked if there was a coach or program he would have liked to play for other than Georgia. “I at least just wanted the offer, even if I wasn’t going to go there.”

Of course, Gurley didn’t say he would have gone to LSU if they had offered, just that he would have liked to have had the option. He said he had a great relationship with the Georgia coaching staff:

“I had a good relationship with coach [Mark] Richt and coach [T.A.] McClendon, my running backs coach,” Gurley said. “I just trusted in those guys. I knew Georgia had the potential and was the place for me. I kinda wanted to be in the SEC honestly.”

Could Gurley and Leonard Fournette have coexisted in the same backfield? We’ll never know, but the Tigers definitely missed out on a chance to have another big-time star at the running back position.
