Too many blue-chip quarterbacks on the roster sounds like a classic “good problem to have.”

In the case of Georgia, however, many have wondered how Kirby Smart and his staff would handle playing time for Justin Fields, the former 5-star recruit rated No. 2 overall in the class of 2018, with Jake Fromm, the sophomore who has now lead the Bulldogs to back-to-back SEC Championship Game appearances.

Fromm turned in a stellar performance Saturday, going 25-of-39 passing for 301 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions. It’s hard to imagine he’ll be unseated as the starter while he’s at UGA.

And it likely led to Fields being asked after the game about potentially transferring.

“The season’s not over with,” Fields said in response to a question about transferring. “We still have more games. I am focused on this team.”

Fields deserves the benefit of the doubt when it comes to his future. That statement, however, won’t quiet down any rumors or speculation.
