The Alabama Crimson Tide have one of the most highly-anticipated quarterback battles of the offseason getting ready to kick off again, but they’re not the only SEC team with a debate at the position.

Georgia is also in that boat, with Jake Fromm coming off a season in which he led the Bulldogs to the National Championship Game. He’ll be battling Justin Fields, the No. 2 overall player in the 2018 recruiting class. While Fromm will likely win the job in Week 1, it’ll be interesting to see how Fields’ role develops.

At SEC Media Days last week, ESPN host Paul Finebaum weighed in on the Georgia situation. At around the 4:45 mark of the below video, Finebaum says that he thinks Fields has a chance at the starting job this year:

“I think, ultimately, Fields could be the starter,” he said. “I have friends who have seen him and know him, and I’m not just talking about guys who have walked by and looked in. These are former coaches, people in the business, who say he’s the most-talented quarterback ever to come to the University of Georgia, with all due respect to Matthew Stafford.”

Fields is definitely an elite talent, and it’ll be up to the Georgia coaches to figure out how to best utilize his skill set this fall, whether that’s as a starter or a backup.
