The Georgia Bulldogs took care of business at home on Saturday to close out the regular season, beating rival Georgia Tech 45-21.

The game wasn’t that close, though, as coach Paul Johnson’s triple-option offense put up 14 of those 21 points in fourth-quarter garbage time.

After the game, Johnson said the Dawgs are a good football team and, combined with the Yellow Jackets’ bad day, it had all the makings of a blowout (via AJC.com):

“We played against a really good football team and we played very poorly,” he said. “I think they probably had something to do with a lot of that. Offensively, they were pretty much a machine there in the first half. We got ourselves dug in a hole and never could put together anything consistently on offense.

“They’re a good team and we played horribly so put the two together and that’s what you get. You get your butt kicked.”

This is two years in a row the Dawgs have blown out the Yellow Jackets, making it clear they’ve surpassed their rivals on the field.

Next up is a tough test against No. 1 Alabama in Atlanta for the SEC Championship Game.
