It was announced on Saturday that Georgia freshman running back Zamir White will be out for the 2018 season with a torn ACL. White was a part of the No. 1 ranked recruiting class in 2018, per 247Sports Composite Rankings, as the top-ranked running back in the country.

White’s head coach at Scotland County High School in Laurinburg, North Carolina, Lonnie Cox, posted a message on his Facebook page about the type of player White was in his high school days.

“He didn’t care if he got 3 touches or 33 touches a night” said Cox, “He was a team guy first and just wanted to win.

“He never complained when things went wrong; he just tried to find solutions and a way to win.”

White rushed for over 7,000 yards and 119 touchdowns during his career at Scotland County. It’s safe to say Lonnie Cox likely misses what White could do on the football field as much as his locker room presence.

“Love you, buddy” continued Cox,  “and I am saddened to hear of your injury and I know that God still has a awesome plan for your life.”

Even with White’s injury, the Bulldogs have an embarrassment of riches at running back, with D’Andre Swift, Elijah Holyfield, Brian Herrien and James Cook still in the fold. However, one of the prized recruits of Georgia’s No. 1 ranked recruiting class in 2018 will have to wait an extra year to make his debut for Kirby Smart.
