Much has been made of linebacker Josh Allen’s impact on No. 9 Kentucky’s stifling defense, but the Wildcats’s secondary deserves some credit, too.

According to a stat from CFB Film Room, Kentucky has been lights-out against passes of 20 or more yards this season. In their six SEC games, the Wildcats have allowed opposing quarterbacks to complete just 4 of 31 deep passes for two touchdowns and four interceptions.

That trend is a huge reason why Kentucky is tied with No. 2 Clemson for the fewest points allowed per game in the nation (13.0) and on track to win the SEC East. To accomplish that and reach Atlanta for the conference title game, the Wildcats (7-1, 5-1 SEC) will have to beat No. 6 Georgia (7-1, 5-1) when they clash at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday in Lexington.

Based on the above stat, the Bulldogs probably shouldn’t try to take too many deep shots.
