Kentucky’s week began with news that sought-after defensive tackle Tyler Bentley had committed to the program. As the week draws to a close, the Wildcats have received similarly good news.

DeAndre Square, a 3-star outside linebacker prospect from Detroit, announced his pledge to Kentucky on Friday afternoon via a message on Twitter. Square chose the Wildcats over offers from LSU, Michigan State and Missouri.

“First off I want to thank God for giving me this opportunity to play football,” Square wrote in his Twitter message. “I also want to thank my parents for being there for me. Last I want to thank my coaches for coaching me up and showing me the ropes. With all that said I had a long talk with coach and family and decided that I will be committing to the University of Kentucky!”

The 6-foot-1, 200-pound linebacker is rated the No. 8 player from the state of Michigan, according to the 247Sports Composite Ranking. He is the second player from Michigan to commit to the Wildcats, joining 4-star offensive linemen Marquan McCall.
