Former Kentucky DE Denzil Ware announces interesting transfer destination
Denzil Ware turned heads recently when he announced he would leave Kentucky via transfer. In doing so, the rising senior announced he would take advantage of the graduate transfer rule.
That decision led some to suggest a Power 5 program could land a late addition to their pass rush that could prove to be a difference maker for upcoming 2018 season. Considering Ware racked up a dozen sacks, 21.5 tackles-for-loss and over 100 tackles the previous two seasons for the Wildcats, he looked primed to name his ideal destination of choice.
Well, on Friday, Ware announced his decision. The former Wildcat will play his final season of college football at Jacksonville State. Considering JSU plays in the FCS and in the Ohio Valley Conference, Ware didn’t even need to earn his undergraduate degree to transfer down in order and play immediately in 2018.
It’s an interesting decision and one that leaves doubt as to why Ware really left Kentucky this spring. After appearing in 11 games for Kentucky last season, Ware was suspended for the Music City Bowl for an undisclosed reason.
He is a picture of an image Ware posted to Instagram announcing his decision (his Instagram account is a private account):
Denzil Ware transfers to……Jacksonville State. @KarlG42 was the first one I saw with the news this may happen
This tells me he had to have gotten in trouble and told to look elsewhere. pic.twitter.com/zaejKTUIMQ
