Freshman F PJ Washington declared for the 2018 NBA Draft earlier this year, but as the deadline to stay in the draft or return to school approached, he decided to head back to Lexington for his sophomore season.

That was some of the only good news for coach John Calipari and the Kentucky Wildcats, who lost several other talented players to the NBA.

More good news is that Washington had successful surgery on his injured hand on Wednesday. He tweeted that everything was well on Wednesday afternoon:

Washington put off the surgery to go through NBA drills and testing, but now he’ll do what he can to be at full strength for the Wildcats this fall.

Washington will return as the Wildcats’ leading scorer this fall, having averaged 10.8 points (and 5.7 rebounds) last season.
