The Kentucky Wildcats got a scare from the red-hot Davidson Wildcats on Thursday night, but they managed to pull away late thanks to some clutch free-throw shooting.

Kentucky lost its 30-year streak of making a three-pointer, finishing 0-for-6 from beyond the arc, but since it happened in a 78-73 victory, fans will be OK with it.

Potential first-round NBA Draft picks Kevin Knox and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, with Knox finishing with a game-high 25 points and adding six rebounds. Gilgeous-Alexander added 17 points, eight boards, seven assists and five steals in an incredible all-around effort.

Jon Axel Gudmundssen led the way for Davidson, scoring 21 points in his team’s season-ending loss.

Kentucky, meanwhile, advances to the second round, where the Wildcats will play the winner of the Arizona-Buffalo game on Saturday.
