The Kentucky Wildcats got some big news for the 2020 season. Redshirt junior offensive lineman Landon Young has announced he’s coming back for another year at UK.

The 6-7, 324-pound Young stated after the Belk Bowl that he would take a couple of days to figure out whether he would be declaring for the NFL Draft or coming back to Kentucky for a fifth season. Young shared his decision Friday on his Twitter account, tweeting “To be continued…” and attaching a graphic with the following note:

Big Blue Nation,

After sitting out the 2018 season due to injury, I got to experience the love and support that the #BBN has for their own. It made me realize that this university is more than a school; it’s my home.

When I thought about leaving I realized there were things I still wanted to accomplish and without another year it wouldn’t be possible.

I am excited to play one more season and wear the state of Kentucky across my chest.

Sincerely,

Landon Young

Young, who is from Lexington, joined the program in 2016. He redshirted in 2018 after suffering a left knee injury in August which required surgery. As a redshirt junior this season, Young helped the Wildcats rush for an SEC-leading 278.77 yards per game in 2019. Mark Stoops’ squad is set to return four of its five starting linemen with senior LG Logan Stenberg set to depart along with reserve Mason Wolfe.
