With recruiting taking center stage for most programs now that the regular season is over, Kentucky made an alteration to its 2019 class this week.

Junior college defensive end Taures Payne is no longer part of the Wildcats’ incoming class, according to a report from KentuckySportsRadio.com. Though Kentucky earned his commitment back on June 22, potential eligibility issues prompted the Wildcats to “sever the relationship” with Payne, according to the report.

Payne visited Lexington in December and seemed poised to add his talents to coach Mark Stoops’ 2019 class. Measuring at 6-foot-4, 265 pounds, Payne is a 3-star JUCO prospect per 247Sports.com’s composite ratings.

The prospect out of Northwest Mississippi Community College held an offer from SEC East rival Florida at the time of his commitment, so he may still end up on the same field as Kentucky at some point.

His exit from the class drops the current number of 2019 Wildcats commits to 19.
