Liam Coen is leaving for the NFL after all, as the Kentucky offensive coordinator, who spent last season with the Wildcats.

Albert Breer, NFL reporter at the MMQB, reported that Coen will be the Los Angeles Rams new offensive coordinator to replace Kevin O’Connell, who left to be the Minnesota Vikings head coach.

In Coen’s one season at Kentucky, the Wildcats ranked 35th nationally in scoring offense (32.3 points per game) and 50th in total offense (424.1 yards per game). Those numbers represented dramatic improvements from the 2020 season when Kentucky ranked 107th in scoring offense (21.8 points per game) and 115th in total offense (318 yards per game). Kentucky averaged more than 100 more passing yards per game in 2021 than 2020.

Coen proved that, along with Will Levis and Wan’Dale Robinson, he could build a strong offense in the SEC after he left the Rams about a year ago.

Along with Coen, the Rams are reportedly giving former Georgia running back and veteran SEC assistant Thomas Brown more responsibility in the offense.
