Mark Stoops is glad that Kentucky is off this week as the Wildcats try to bounce back from their first loss of the season in a physical game at Georgia.

Next week, the Cats return to action against Mississippi State.

“We probably needed this open date at this point in time. … It’s been a tough grind here for a little bit, so we welcome the bye week to try to heal up a little bit and try to focus on ourself,” Stoops said on Wednesday on the SEC coaches media teleconference.

About the makeup of his team, Stoops said the 6-1 start is indicative of the attitude of the team.

“I feel like this team has been really solid all year, real businesslike approach,” Stoops said. “… It’s been a good start.”
