Mark Stoops is still enjoying the milestone from Saturday when he became Kentucky’s all-time winningest coach with 61 wins, and paid a visit to “SEC This Morning” on Monday on the SEC Network with Peter Burns and Chris Doering.

Stoops reflected on the accomplishment, and was asked by Doering if it was it extra special doing it down in The Swamp?

“I have to agree with you Chris,” Stoops said. “When I got here, everybody was obsessed about it because it had been so long. For me, early on, I really didn’t worry about that whatsoever, because we had so much work to do. Not only did we have to compete with Florida, but we had to compete with everybody, so I just concentrated on building the program, not being consumed with that.”

Stoops recalled that as the program improved, and the Wildcats played more competitive games with Florida, the 31-game losing streak continued as a talking point and storyline.

“That was still something that would always linger over us, because our fans had so many bad memories of that streak, and it was an embarrassingly long streak, I mean let’s face it,” Stoops said. “There were a lot of opportunities before me, and early on in my career when we had the opportunity to win, but we just couldn’t get it done, and we had to learn how to win against UF and against everybody in this league. That was my big concentration.”
