Pre-game tempers continue to flare ahead of Kentucky-Virginia Tech Belk Bowl
As kickoff draws near in the Belk Bowl, players from Kentucky and Virginia Tech continue to jaw at one another, which continues a theme leading up to this game.
Multiple media members captured the on-field drama as Kentucky players “escorted” the Hokies off the field at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte. Kentucky players, like QB Lynn Bowden Jr., said they wouldn’t discuss the Hokies after a dust up earlier this week at the NASCAR Hall of Fame.
Virginia Tech players reportedly launched profane insults at UK players, and UK coach Mark Stoops countered that the Wildcats should turn this into a positive and with composure, “kick their ass on the field.”
UK’s sideline reporter, Dick Gabriel, reported that he could “confirm in pre-Belk Bowl dust up, at least one punch thrown at Lynn Bowden. No idea about the verbal exchange that may have led to it.”
Charlie Walter of LEX-18 added, “Bowden just got a personal police escort onto the field.”
