Report: Kentucky loses commitment from talented Ohio DE Alex Reigelsperger
Kentucky’s 2018 recruiting class took a hit on Monday, as a 2018 defensive end has de-committed from the school.
According to reports, Ohio native Alex Reigelsperger has reopened his recruitment and is considering other schools.
The bad news for coach Mark Stoops and the Wildcats broke on Monday afternoon on Twitter:

Reigelsperger’s Twitter account is set to private, but one person with access to the account said he tweeted the following message:
Alex Reigelsperger, "After long, long talks with my family.. I have decided to re-open my recruitment.. Thank you to Stoops and ALL of BBN"

According to the 247Sports composite, Reigelsperger is the No. 24 weak-side defensive end in the class of 2018 and the No. 20 overall recruit from the state of Ohio.
The 6-3, 247-pound defender has also drawn interest from Minnesota, Arizona, Iowa, Louisville, Tennessee, Wisconsin and others.
The Wildcats are down to 17 commits in their 2018 class, which now ranks No. 7 in the SEC and No. 21 nationally, per 247Sports.
This guy went on local radio talking about how much he “loves UK and is going to recruit players and be the leader of the class”
What a joke. Have fun playing on the frozen ground at Minnesota.
Ease up on the kid. I genuinely believe he still loves UK, but his dad has laid it out to him that he would be riding the bench until his Junior year behind Pascal, Hoskins, Wright, and 1 other DE in his class. His parents wanted to see him play and to be honest we really really really need a few scholarships back from this class because we’ve started so hot and shocked some other recruits. Namely some guys that were looking at Tennessee, Florida, and Louisville.
He must’ve decided that Kentucky wasn’t the right place after watching them play dirty in the 4th quarter last weekend. Mizzou fans aren’t going to forget Slapgate anytime soon. What a joke.
That play happened right in front of me and I couldn’t figure out how the heck Missouri only got one play off there. Then I saw the replay.. it is unsportsmanlike, but it was also a very astute play. We deserved to lose to a Lock TD pass for settling on a field goal from the 2-yard line to put us up by 6 points. Still, we’re 5-1 with a 1 point loss to Florida.
I wouldnt call that a “dirty” play, more of a heads up play by the defender trying to leave with a W. Blame the ref who took his jolly time getting the ball back or the receiver who could have picked it right back up. Youre not getting any pity from us, we’ve seen plenty of these plays go against us and historically get zero home cooking on our own field. Cats are 5-1! And now we are losing a 4 star recruit and no ones freaking out! The tides are changing for Uk football GO CATS!
