Tyler Herro was candid during the Miami Heat’s media day on Monday about rumors of a trade to Portland swirling around him.
Herro, an ex-Kentucky standout who will be in a Heat jersey this season, was reserved at first when asked about his thoughts on being part of the potential Damian Lillard trade package.

Herro is coming off a 2022-23 season where he played in 67 games for Miami. He averaged 20.1 points and 4.2 assists per game, and shot 93% from the free-throw line and 38% from the 3-point range.
While continuing to chat with ESPN West Palm, Herro put emphasis on his worth on the basketball court.
“For the team’s that didn’t want me, that’s on you,” Herro said. “For the team’s that do want me, you’ll see why you want me.”
The Heat and the Trail Blazers face off in the tail end of the 2023-24 season, with one matchup on Feb. 27 and the other on March 29.
When asked about Miami’s scheduled matchups against Portland this season, Herro was more focused on the broader scope of competition.
“I’m ready to play the best,” Herro said. “Portland ain’t the best, so I’m not worried about Portland.”
