Terry Wilson has developed quite a connection with Jared Lorenzen, but after a pre-game meeting on Saturday, that relationship has reached a new level.

The current Kentucky quarterback and the late Kentucky quarterback’s mother embraced for an emotional hug at Kroger Field in the video below captured by Scott Charlton. Lorenzen died this year at the age of 38. He had long been a cult figure in the eyes of UK fans.

Wilson has said he plans to wear Lorenzen’s No. 22 against Arkansas on Oct. 12, and there have been custom cleats made for Wilson to wear that display Lorenzen’s nickname, the “Hefty Lefty” on them.

The Arkansas game is designated as “Jared Lorenzen Day.” Fans can use the offer code “TWENTYTWO” (Lorenzen’s jersey number) online at Ticketmaster.com to receive $22 off tickets to the Arkansas game in select areas of Kroger Field.

Commemorative rally towels will be distributed at the gates for ticketed fans upon entry. The Lorenzen family and his teammates are also invited to attend and take part in remembering the UK great.
