What Mark Stoops said after Kentucky's 38-24 win over Toledo
It wasn’t pretty at times, but the Kentucky Wildcats took down Toledo 38-24 on Saturday afternoon in Lexington to improve to 1-0 on the season.
The Rockets gave the Wildcats all they could handle, entering halftime tied at 14-14. However, the Wildcats were able to pick up the victory at home.
After the game, coach Mark Stoops discussed the first win of the 2019 season. Here’s what he said:
On Toledo being a tough opponent:
Stoops: Credit Toledo, we knew they were going to make us earn it.

On three fumbles from the running backs:
Mark Stoops-Putting the ball on the ground has to stop. It's good to get to 1-0 but we have to improve in all areas.

“There was some good and some bad” – Stoops on his three running backs. Stoops mentioned his team putting the ball on the ground but also acknowledged his skill position players made several good plays today.

On QB Terry Wilson’s performance:
Stoops: He missed some throws, then he made some, which is why we kept letting him throw it.

On a targeting ejection for DB Chris Oats:
“It’s just a tough call” – Stoops on the Chris Oats targeting call. Oats will miss the first half of next week’s game. Stoops added “I’m not complaining about Chris because he was hustling”

On WR Ahmad Wagner:
Stoops: He’s a big guy, tough matchup, and I want to see him grow along with that whole group. (Ahmad Wagner)
