July is off to a great for Mark Stoops on the recruiting trail.

Lima Senior (Ohio) TE Keaton Upshaw announced his commitment to Kentucky on Saturday via his Twitter account.

UK offered Upshaw a scholarship on May 27. When he visited campus on June 10, he knew where he wanted to go to college.

“It was a lot of factors to it,” Upshaw told Cats Pause. “Mainly the family that I saw and talking to coaches and a couple players and seeing what it’s all about. It’s just a different feeling you don’t feel anywhere else. I love the campus and academics and it’s amazing.”

Shortly after the Kentucky visit, Louisville also offered Upshaw a scholarship (June 13), but the Wildcats won out over their in-state rival. On the 247Sports Composite, Upshaw is rated the No. 37 Ohio recruit and No. 42 tight end of the 2018 class. Kentucky now has 14 commitments in its 2018 class ranked No. 20 nationally and No. 4 in the SEC.
