LSU’s momentum on the recruiting trail continues to build as the Tigers have just landed a commitment from one of the top overall prospects from New Orleans.

The Tigers already had one of the top-ranked recruiting classes for the 2022 cycle and the class just got better as four-star receiver AJ Johnson of Newman High School just announced his commitment to Ed Orgeron’s program.

The 6-foot-4, 205-pound New Orleans native is rated as a four-star prospect, the No. 33 receiver in the nation, Louisiana’s No. 12 overall prospect and a top 250 overall recruit nationally in the 2022 recruiting cycle according to 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Johnson commits to LSU over scholarship offers from Alabama, Georgia, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Tennessee, Florida State and Miami, among others. LSU currently has the nation’s No. 3 recruiting class for the 2022 recruiting cycle and the No. 2 class in the SEC.

Interestingly enough, Johnson’s quarterback at Isidore Newman is five-star 2023 quarterback prospect, Arch Manning.

While Manning, who is uncommitted at this time, isn’t going to make his college decision based on what any of his high school teammates do, landing Johnson certainly isn’t going to hurt the Tigers when it comes to recruiting the next QB prospect in the Manning family.
