Former LSU WR Brandon LaFell has been released by the Cincinnati Bengals, according to multiple reports.

The veteran pass catcher was the Bengals No. 2 WR in 2017, racking up 1,410 receiving yards and nine TDs, but now, he’ll be looking for a new NFL home. LaFell had been “feeling the heat” from the receiver competition this year in Cincinnati, per his head coach Marvin Lewis.

“Brandon LaFell has done a nice job. He feels the heat,” Lewis said, via ESPN. “…That’s a competitive group of wide receivers. So we can only keep so many of them. They’re going to be competitive that way and that’s a good thing.”

During his eight-year NFL career, LaFell has recorded 394 receptions for 5,263 yards and 29 TDs. His best season came in 2014 with the New England Patriots; he caught 74 passes for 953 yards and seven TDs.

LaFell was originally picked by the Carolina Panthers in the third round (78th overall) of 2010 NFL Draft. During his career, he has played for the Panthers, Patriots and Bengals.

The former LSU Tiger caught 175 passes for 2,517 yards and 25 TDs during his four-year career in Baton Rouge.
