Former LSU All-American DT Booger McFarland has called out the LSU defense to live up to its proud nickname, “DBU,” ahead of the Alabama game while also pressuring the quarterback.

The Tigers are ranked in the middle of the SEC in sacks with 18 this season, but the Tigers are sixth in the league in pass defense. However, the primetime showdown Saturday night in Tiger Stadium features the interception team leaders in the SEC. LSU has 14, while Alabama has 12.

McFarland, an ESPN analyst, understands it’s a tall order against one of the best offenses in America.

Alabama QB Tua Tagovailoa has thrown 25 touchdown passes and only 45 incompletions, and has yet to throw an interception while not attempting a pass in the fourth quarter. The Crimson Tide are averaging 8.3 yards per play.

It will be interesting to see if this message reaches the LSU locker room, or if an ESPN analyst who played at Alabama makes a similar motivational challenge leading up to Saturday.
