Since the Cincinnati Bengals locked up the No. 1 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, they have been linked to Joe Burrow. The Heisman Trophy-winner has long been considered the consensus No. 1 pick. While rumors of Burrow not wanting to play in Cincinnati or the Bengals entertaining trade talks occasionally make the headlines, it is widely expected that the former LSU quarterback will be called by Cincinnati as the No. 1 overall pick on Thursday night.

Veteran NFL quarterback Andy Dalton, who was benched by Cincinnati last year, acknowledges that the Bengals are likely to draft their QB of the future.

“I truly believe they want what’s best for me, but I understand it’s a business, and you know how that goes,” Dalton recently told NFL.com’s Mike Silver. “With the first pick, if they take a quarterback like everyone expects, that could trigger something. There’s even a scenario where I go back there.”

Bengals coach Zac Taylor also said bringing back Dalton is still a possibility.

“Everything’s on the table, and that’s the truth,” Taylor said. “Given the circumstances going on in the world right now, it doesn’t make sense not to keep our options open. [Bringing him back is] something to consider.”

Many rookie quarterbacks would welcome a veteran presence like Dalton’s alongside them in the QB room. It will be interesting how the Bangles handle their roster.
