Since LSU’s 24-19 loss to Auburn Saturday, a lot of LSU fans are noticing how the Tigers are struggling to run the football.

On the show “Off the Bench” on ESPN 104.5, LSU head coach Ed Orgeron answered questions about facing a 3-man defensive line, and how to improve offensively against it.

“Run the ball, you know that,” Orgeron said. “There was one defensive lineman in a 3-point stance, everybody else was in a 2-point stance. Run the ball and make them get out of it. Mississippi State did it to us, or make them play 4 technique, and then able to stop their pass rush. But you can’t have both of them. You can’t stop the pass and stop the run in a 3-man rush and an 8-man drop. There’s got to be some ways to combat it. There are some ways where the quarterback knows where to throw the ball when they’re dropping 8, there are some holes. We just got to find those holes and be better well-prepared.”

Orgeron also answered questions about the status of running back Corey Kiner.

“Just keep on doing what he’s doing,” Orgeron said. “We are going to give him and Armoni (Goodwin) more consistent touches and those guys are moving up the depth chart fast.”
