The LSU Tigers are an impressive 5-0 entering Week 6, and a lot of that has to do with the play of new QB Joe Burrow.

On Saturday night against Ole Miss, Burrow threw for 292 yards and three touchdowns, but also added 96 yards and a touchdown with his legs.

On Monday, coach Ed Orgeron was asked about Burrow’s running ability and whether he’d use it more in the future. As you can see below, via a release from the school, Coach O said LSU OC Steve Ensminger wants Burrow to run more, but Orgeron is the one who is hesitant to do so:

Question: Burrow’s running ability, was that something that you guys knew he had in him before you got him and obviously you kind of you knew he was athletic but utilizing him so much was that kind of a pleasant surprise once he got here or did you know that all along?

ED ORGERON: We knew it all along. I’m the one that’s a little apprehensive of doing it. I think Coach Ensminger wants to do it a lot more and obviously I want to keep him healthy. But we knew he could do it.

With the way Burrow is playing, Coach O is right to be stingy with using Burrow to run.

However, as the going gets tougher for the Tigers, using Burrow’s dual-threat ability may become more common for LSU.
