The LSU Tigers hired new offensive coordinator Matt Canada away from Pitt ahead of the 2017 season, but the assistant’s tenure in Baton Rouge was a rocky one.

Now, Canada is no longer at LSU and is expected to take the Maryland OC job, and it’s due to a rift between himself and head coach Ed Orgeron.

It must have been awkward for LSU’s offensive players to be caught in the middle of that situation in 2017 and WR D.J. Chark weighed in on the rift between the coach and OC during Tuesday’s Senior Bowl practice:

That is a very diplomatic answer from Chark, who has nothing to gain now from picking sides. It also shines light on to the sort of tightrope the LSU offensive players felt they had to walk last year.

Next year’s LSU players won’t have to worry about that, though, as new OC Steve Ensminger seems to be getting along a little better with Coach O.
