The LSU Tigers parted ways with OC Matt Canada after only one turmoil-filled season, and have now handed the job to Steve Ensminger.

It will be interesting to see how that offense performs this season, and 4-star 2019 QB Grant Gunnell will be watching, too.

The former Texas A&M commit attended the LSU caravan event in Houston on Wednesday, and he saw Ensminger describe his offensive plan. He told The Advocate that he is liking what he’s seeing so far:

“Good to see the offense how they’re working with receivers and throwing the ball more,” Gunnell said. “I really like what he’s doing, spreading it out more with Jonathan Giles and the quarterbacks throwing the ball more and throwing it in the middle too. I like that. … I haven’t gotten to see the offense yet. It was cool to see what they’re doing.”

That could be a great sign for coach Ed Orgeron and the Tigers, who face major uncertainty at the quarterback position heading into this summer.

Though Gunnell wouldn’t be around until the 2019 season, it’s never too early to add a quarterback of his caliber to a recruiting class.

According to the 247Sports composite, Gunnell is the No. 3 pro-style quarterback in the class of 2019 and the No. 13 overall recruit from the state of Texas.
