The LSU Tigers are 5-0 and ranked No. 5 in the latest AP Poll.

A big reason for their success is Ohio State transfer QB Joe Burrow, who hasn’t put up the biggest numbers, but has done everything necessary to keep the Tigers from losing.

On Tuesday, SEC Network analyst Greg McElroy joined “The Paul Finebaum Show” and said he thought LSU’s Week 5 matchup against Ole Miss was Burrow’s best game of the year so far (via 247Sports):

“What I found very encouraging about LSU last week was Joe Burrow went from caretaker to playmaker in the span of 60 minutes,” said McElroy. “Not only was he impressive statistically — he accounted for 388 yards — which is the fourth most ever by an LSU Tiger. But the throws that he made, some of which were contested, and the receivers made plays on the ball. When it wasn’t there, he showed a newfound ability to create with his legs. I didn’t know he had that. I knew he was a little slippery, but I didn’t know he was capable of actually being productive as a runner. He proved that, so it’s just another thing you have to account for.”

Indeed, if Burrow continues to play like he did on Saturday, the Tigers will be a tough team to beat.

This weekend, it’ll be up to the Florida Gators’ defense to try to stop the steadily improving LSU quarterback.
