The CBS broadcast ran into technical difficulties during the Alabama-LSU game Saturday night in Baton Rouge. In the first half, there was a brief moment where Brad Nessler and Gary Danielson lost power in the booth. Sideline reporter Jamie Erdahl stepped up during the outage to provide play-by-play from the sideline.

Sunday morning, Erdahl shared a statement via her Twitter account reacting to the situation and offering some insight:

“A few minutes of our broadcast were highlighted last night that really just magnify we in Sports TV know is more important this year than any other – TEAMWORK keeps you on the air.

“I thank you all for the immense praise but I wouldn’t be nearly as calm as I was in that moment if it not for what I’ve learned from Brad Nessler and Gary Danielson over the last 3 years. And from Greg Gumbel and Trent Green for 3 years before that.

“The point is SIDELINE REPORTERS who ask for advice – you’re only as good as the word you put in off camera. Keep your ears open and the word will come out just fine when the time comes.”

The power outage was certainly on-brand for a 2020 season of unexpected twists and turns.
