The 2020 NFL Draft is just around the corner, and presumptive No. 1 overall pick Joe Burrow is soaking up all the advice he can get.

Peyton Manning recently offered his advice to Burrow (including a great joke), and on Monday, former No. 2 overall pick Ryan Leaf revealed he’d spoken with Burrow, too.

Appearing on SportsCenter, Leaf shared some takeaways from that conversation (via 247Sports):

“I got an opportunity to spend the day with Joe down in Orange County (California) before all of this quarantine and everything took place,” said Leaf, now an ESPN college football analyst, on SportsCenter with co-host Ryan Smith. “I’ve been with a lot of quarterbacks and I can tell you this … there’s a certain level of quarterback that understands they want to learn from everybody and everything, from people who have been there, who have not necessarily been successful, who have been successful reach out to them.

“And I really could tell that with him, exactly what this is, and told him about my story and everything that kind of transpired — what it took to get here and what I needed to do when I got to this point that I didn’t. And he was very receptive. He took notes. We had a good chat about it. Jordan Palmer does a tremendous job with his quarterbacks when he preps them for the draft, preps them for the NFL.

“And I think Joe Burrow’s about as mentally tough as anybody heading into this, and I think a lot of quarterbacks are when they’re at this point. Back 20 years ago, we didn’t have the social media, we didn’t have the scrutiny, necessarily, that they have to deal with now. And I think they’re tremendously more prepared when it comes to (NFL) play in 2020.”

We’ll see if Burrow’s career ends up going more like Manning’s, Leaf’s, or somewhere in the middle.
