Five-star LSU commit Kardell Thomas (Baton Rouge, LA) is visiting FSU this weekend.

Thomas has been committed to LSU for over two years, and he’s ranked as the nation’s No. 1 OT and the state of Louisiana’s No. 3 overall prospect, according to 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Currently visiting FSU, the 6-foot-3, 356-pound lineman made some very interesting remarks to Bud Elliot and Tomahawk Nation. It appears that things are pretty even between LSU and FSU right now, and the biggest reason is the new coaching staff. In fact, Thomas said the FSU program under Jimbo Fisher’s leadership was so boring.

“I’ve been talking to coach Woodie (LBs coach Raymond Woodie) for about four months now. He’s been telling me to come to Florida State. I wasn’t really trying to hear that, I’m not going to lie. The first time I came here it was so boring, no disrespect to the last staff, but it was so boring, I was like I’m never coming back here again. Coach kept telling me it was different, I finally came and I see what he means,” Thomas said.

Thomas went on to say that it will be a Signing Day decision. It remains to be seen just how big of a factor FSU will be for Thomas, and it’s always tough for any program to go into Louisiana and nab a top prospect. But it’s clear that Willie Taggart and company have made a strong impression on him.

Meanwhile, the Texas A&M program under Jimbo Fisher’s leadership is on fire in recruiting. In fact, the Aggies have 23 commitments and the No. 2 ranked class in the country, behind only Alabama.

Much has been made about the massive money Texas A&M offered Fisher, but it appears from comments like these that change was needed all around.
