Les Miles is in love with Ben Simmons.

LSU’s head coach has repeatedly said during fall camp that LSU’s athletic five-star freshman on the basketball team has a roster spot on the gridiron at wide receiver if he’s interested.

Simmons, 6-foot-8, 190-pound small forward from Melbourne, Australia, is considered one of the top prospects in next year’s NBA draft and was the gem of the Tigers’ impressive 2015 signing class.

“What a magnificent player and I just want you to know, so you know, if he’s interested in taking some snaps for us, he can come over,” Miles said last week, according to  the New Orleans Times-Picayune. “I’m very honest. And I can give him a goal-line position where I would throw it to him. All he’s got to prove to me is one thing is that he can catch.

“If he can catch, he will set the NCAA record for touchdowns.”

Miles reiterated what he thought of Simmons Tuesday on Twitter:

Over the weekend in Australia, Simmons was nearly unstoppable during scrimmage play highlighted by several thunderous dunks.

LSU’s set at wide receiver with Travin Dural and Malachi Dupre, but watching Miles playfully beg for help on offense through social media is fun to watch.
