Last year, LSU took exception to being Florida’s homecoming opponent.

This year, LSU’s homecoming opponent will be no cakewalk.

The Tigers announced on Thursday that they’ll host Mississippi State for homecoming this season:

The matchup is set for Oct. 20 at Tiger Stadium.

That’s an interesting move considering the Bulldogs dominated LSU in Starkville to open SEC play last year. But the Tigers have a loaded home schedule in 2018.

After celebrating the 1958 National Championship Reunion against Ole Miss on Sept. 29, the Tigers will host Georgia (Oct. 13), MSU (Oct. 20) and Alabama (Nov. 3) with senior day against Rice scheduled for Nov. 17.

MSU and LSU were ranked No. 20 and No. 23, respectively, in ESPN’s way-too-early top 25 rankings.

It wouldn’t be surprising if both teams were ranked by the time their midseason homecoming showdown rolls around.
