It is being reported that Penn State DC Brent Pry has emerged as a favorite for the coaching position at Louisiana-Lafayette, and that news is actually relevant to the LSU Tigers.

ULL has been looking for a head coach with LSU OC Matt Canada previously reported as one of the candidates for the position. Canada has been with the Tigers for just one season and has produced some varied results with the team.

LSU finished 9th in the SEC in points scored per game this season and 7th in total yards per game. While the Tigers would like to improve both of those rankings, Canada showed flashes at times leading the offense. Additionally, Ed Orgeron would likely not want to look for a new OC after just completing his first full season as head coach of the Tigers.

Nothing official has been announced, but reporter Bruce Feldman shared the news that Pry is likely to be offered the ULL job. It is unclear if Pry would accept:

Scott Roussel with Football Scoop also shared a similar report, but he also indicated that ULL would like to communicate with Sam Houston’s head coach KC Keeler.

Anything can certainly happen until the school makes an official hire, but it appears that Canada is currently not a strong candidate for the position.
